Who Am I?

I am a writer. I always have been. I learned how to read extremely young, and wanted to write stories immediately after that. It was that simple.
I am a screenwriter. I latched onto the format when I was fifteen, awed by how it turns a razor’s edge of minimalist description into visual maximalism. I have been honing the craft of the screenplay ever since.
I am a genre fiction writer. Science fiction, in particular, has the remarkable power to look at humanity as tool makers… and reflect on us through said tools. It holds an awe-inspiring power to deconstruct and reconstruct the way we see the world, more vital than ever in an uncertain age. I love the iconography of sci-fi, from megacities to machine men, but I love that capability even more.

More than that:
I am an enormous nerd.
I am someone who makes true humans out of every character I write – not real, but true.
I write one hell of an action scene.
I like cold Midwest winters even when they sting.
I want to create beautiful things to make us feel ways we couldn’t before.

Most of all, I am a screenwriter worth your time.
